Privacy
In short: we don't track you, and we store only what is needed to send alerts you asked for.
No tracking, just counting
The site uses no cookies and no ads. You can read everything without telling us anything about yourself.
We count visits with Vercel Web Analytics, without cookies and without collecting personal data. We see how many people open each page, and how many open the alert form, create, confirm or cancel an alert, and download CSV files. The counts never include your email address or what you follow, and they can't be linked to you. With Vercel Speed Insights we also measure how fast pages load, in the same way and without cookies.
What alerts store
When you create an alert, we store:
- your email address,
- what you follow (farm, company, group, municipality, production area, river or fjord), which events you want, and any distance,
- when you signed up, when you confirmed, and when we last emailed you,
- which events we have sent you, so you don't get the same one twice.
We don't store names, passwords or IP addresses with alerts. The links in our emails contain a signed code that shows the link came from your inbox. The code itself is not stored.
Double opt-in
Every new alert must be confirmed from the link we send to the address. Until then we send nothing else. We send at most one confirmation email every ten minutes to the same address, so nobody can use the form to flood someone else's inbox.
Deletion
Every email has a link at the bottom to manage or cancel your alerts. “Unsubscribe from all alerts” deletes the email address and everything linked to it immediately. If you remove the last thing you follow, the address is deleted too.
Alerts you never confirm are kept until deleted. You can delete them from the link in the confirmation email, or write to us.
Who processes the data
- Vercel hosts the site. Server functions run in Frankfurt. Vercel keeps technical access logs (including IP addresses) for a short period for operations and security.
- Neon hosts the database, in Frankfurt (AWS eu-central-1).
- Resend sends the emails. Resend receives the email address and the content of the email in order to deliver it.
- Sentry receives error reports from the server, in the EU (Frankfurt): what failed and where in the code. The reports contain no IP addresses, email addresses or the codes from the links in our emails.
Personal data in the datasets
The figures on the site are about farms and companies and come from public registers. Some licences are held by private individuals; we show only what the registers publish, and we never store national identity numbers.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete what we store about you. Write to kontakt@lakseregnskapet.no. You can also complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet).
